FirstTuesday Event
Date: January 11
Time:   6:30 PM
Location: Kaufleuten Pelikanstrasse 18. Zurich

We hope you had a great holiday, and are ready to embark on the new
millennium.  We've got a lot of momentum into the new year, as our
community grew over the holidays to over 900 members in Zurich, and
over 25,000 worldwide.

Come join us for our inaugural event next Tuesday, January 11. We're
meeting at a new venue, The Kaufleuten Hall,  a great new-baroque space
in downtown Zurich.  The topics are great -- opportunities in the Swiss
e-commerce market and the current etoy vs. etoys controversy.

(2) Subscription information
(3) Thanks to our sponsors

(1) We will start off the New Year with a special double-bill,
featuring Patrick Stähler speaking about the state of e-commerce in
Switzerland and the opportunities, risks and frustrations of the
marketplace.  Patrick is a representative of the mcm institute at the
University of St. Gallen (http://www.mcm.unisg.ch),  which recently
published an excellent study together with PriceWaterhouseCoopers
entitled `E-Business made in Switzerland'.  We hope that this will
provide the inspiration and context to get those ideas and plans
flowing in our local market.

The hot topic right now is the current litigation between etoys, the US
e-commerce toy site, and etoy the Swiss artistic site.  Peter Wild from
A.W.Metz & Co., a leading swiss trademark law firm, is representing
etoy in the case and will share some insights and lessons learned.
This should be an excellent opportunity to hear first hand about the
issues.

Join us for a glass of wine at the Kaufleuten on January 11 at 6:30,
the second Tuesday in January.   We will be meeting in the main hall,
and Kaufleuten is located in downtown Zurich at Pelikanstrasse 18.
There will be some new ideas to help you meet the people you came to
meet, and we look forward to seeing you there. Please confirm your
attendance by sending an email to
